Warbirds Online completes our series on the repainting of CAC Mustang CA-18 PR.22 A68-199 at Scone NSW. The refinishing of the aircraft is now complete and the aircraft is back in service. There is no camera installation as yet which will complete her restoration if it is decided to take that step. At present, as previously detailed, this is the only CAC built Mustang restored to PR (Photo Reconnaissance) configuration and one of the few PR specific Mustangs in the world.
The quality of the paintwork is stunning as well as the detail of the stenciling and general attention to detail. This is certainly an upper end restoration and as close to perfect presentation that can be found. The paint finish is gloss for ease of maintenance and longevity and the shade of silver is precisely researched and correct.
We look forward to seeing this magnificent Mustang at future Air shows and displays for years to come.
