Bristol Beaufort – “Armed and Ready”

Bristol Beaufort restoration by Ralph Cusack Caboolture Qld

This week we can report that the Bristol Beaufort A9-141 under restoration at Caboolture Qld is now resplendent in a full coat of camouflage on the entire fuselage, following on from the completion of the tail assembly.

The paint looks beautiful and is accurate for this aircraft: – A9-141 during its RAAF service.

Ron Lee and the crew have done an excellent job and she looks the part. Fortunately, it is finished in a non-glossy finish unlike a number of other Warbirds, giving the aircraft an authentic look.

Work has also been undertaken to finally fit the forward guns in their mounts and fitting of the turret mounts for the rear gun has been completed ready to receive them as well.

Temporary arrangements have now been made to re-accommodate the Beaufort back in its Caboolture hanger so work in the short to medium term can occur without further interruption. This is good news indeed!

Hi was just wondering if this plane will be on display at all? My wife is the grand daughter of George Dick. I’m sure you have heard of him. I’m sure she (and I) would love to see where he sat in the navigators seat during wartime.
    Cheers
    Jace

There is no problem visiting the Beaufort – I can arrange it or you can call Ralph directly and do it that way. All that is needed is a bit of prior notice so he can organize it. Thanks for contacting me and of course any relatives of George Dick are especially welcome. I am pleased you visited our website.
      regards John

Hello, just wondering if the Beaufort was still at Caboolture and if it was possible to visit, take photos etc? Such a fantastic achievement. Congratulations. Paul.
