The Parkes Aero Club celebrates 70 years in 2018 with an Aero Spectacular on Saturday 14 April, 2018 10am – 4pm at Parkes Regional Airport, NSW.
The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS), Parkes Aviation Museum will be supporting an Aero Spectacular organized by the Parkes Aero Club to celebrate its 70th anniversary of the on Saturday 14 April, 2018 from 10am – 4pm at Parkes Regional Airport, NSW.
The HARS Parkes Museum is already well established at Parkes Regional Airport and all of the Museum aircraft will be on display, including a North American AT 6 Harvard, Bell AH-1 Huey Cobra, De Havilland DHC-4 Caribou (A4-275), De Havilland DH.114 Heron (finished to represent VH – AHB, previously VH NJI) and Convair 580 (VH-PDW), GAF Jindivik (A92-22) and Lockheed 12 Electra Junior for display. HARS members are currently working to relocate a Lockheed P2V Neptune to Parkes.
In addition to the aircraft already on display, HARS will be flying in some of its fleet of airworthy aircraft including the Convair 440, Catalina, Caribou and perhaps one of the Dakotas. Also attending will be the RAAF Roulettes and other RAAF display, as well as parachute drops, firefighting demonstrations etc. There is also a rumor of a top secret aircraft in attendance which will be revealed to the crowd on the day!
HARS has recently acquired 2 two Fokker F27 Friendship aircraft from New Zealand with the first having arrived at Albion Park on the 27 February 2018. It is hoped that the second Fokker will arrive in Australia soon and be on display at Parkes during the Aero Spectacular.
There will be food vendors at the event as well as child friendly attractions. Tours of the HARS museum and some of the HARS aircraft will also be available.
